Wrapping Zongzi, Sharing Laughs — How We Celebrated the Dragon Boat Festival at Wingtu

Table of Contents

This past week, we decided to do something a little different at Wingtu. With the Dragon Boat Festival around the corner, we turned part of the office into a mini kitchen—and kicked off a zongzi-wrapping competition that brought everyone together in the best way.

If you’ve ever tried wrapping zongzi (those traditional sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves), you’ll know it’s not as easy as it looks. But that didn’t stop our teams from jumping in, laughing through the mess, and doing their best to fold up the perfect triangle.

Each team had the same ingredients—glutinous rice, savory fillings, fresh bamboo leaves—but what they made of it was completely their own. Some went traditional, others added a twist. One team even tried making a “zongzi tower” (we’re still debating whether it counts as a dumpling or modern art).

There were no strict rules, just a simple goal: make your zongzi look good, stay together, and have fun doing it.

We ended up with some surprisingly good-looking creations, and more importantly, a room full of smiles. After some careful judging (and maybe a bit of taste testing), we handed out cash prizes to the top teams. It wasn’t about winning though—it was about working together, trying something new, and enjoying the moment.

For many of us, the Dragon Boat Festival brings back memories of family kitchens, helping parents fold leaves, and sneaking bites of warm zongzi before they’d cooled. Recreating a bit of that spirit at work was something special.

Big thanks to everyone who took part—and happy Dragon Boat Festival from all of us at Wingtu.
